This is part three of five in a series exploring the benefits of Software as a Service, or SaaS.
We previously looked at how Software as a Service, or SaaS, can save your library money. Today we’re going to briefly look at another benefit of SaaS- its ability to give you easy upgrades.
SaaS is designed to deliver software over the internet using a web browser. The result? When software upgrades are available, your technical staff doesn’t have to update your library’s data center, and it’s not necessary to push the new version of software to all workstations. This allows your staff and patrons to have access to new versions of software as they become available.
Additionally, because the SaaS provider manages all bug fixes, upgrades, and enhancements, libraries don’t have to download and install additional software. The SaaS provider also manages availability, therefore ensuring that the library customer doesn’t need to add hardware, software, or bandwidth as patron usage and needs change.
We chose to offer SaaS because it gives libraries greater flexibility and ability, as well as saves libraries financial resources. Next time we’ll be looking at how SaaS makes it easy to customize your software.
How would your library benefit from SaaS and upgrades?
